Arbor Month September 2019

South Africa used to celebrate Arbor Week in the first week of September annually but this has now upgraded to a whole month of September. The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF), as the custodian of forestry in South Africa, is responsible for the campaign.

National Arbor Month is an opportune time to call on all South Africans to plant indigenous trees as a practical and symbolic gesture of sustainable environmental management.

Taking that into consideration, Vharida Group has partnered with DAFF, Westcoast College and Vredendal North High School to celebrate the importance of trees through sharing of information on the day and later plant trees that are donated by the department. this event took place on the 05th at the college and the high school respectively.

Mr. Tendani Tshisikule was the main speaker on the event and with him, it was Mr. Mdala from DAFF who did the handover of the trees after the briefing.
